Chickies Rock County Park: Lancaster County

Under an hour southeast of mechanicsburg, you’ll find Chickies Rock County Park, a sprawling 422-acre gem in Lancaster County that encompasses several creeks, sections of the Susquehanna, and picturesque Kerbaugh Lake.

Chickies Rock itself is a massive quartzite outcropping that extends 100 feet above the river and the main climbing venture for enthusiasts seeking a rewarding post-climb view. You’ll see down to York County to the east and Lancaster County farmland as far as the eye can see to the northwest. While exploring Chickies, you may also come across some artifacts from the area’s industrial past that are now one with nature, including canal walls and trolley line tracks.
